ITUC/FES Sub Regional Training Workshop on Climate Change Southern Africa Sub Region 6 – 8 July 2016

Overall Objective: The main objective of the training workshop is to deepen the knowledge of specific focal persons on the basics of climate change including – causes, effects and implications for workers and communities at large – to promote effective policy engagement of trade unions on climate change advocacy within SADC countries.
Specific Objectives:
• Equip trainers with a tool to further build the capacities of other members within the
workplace and the communities at large;
• Discuss innovative solutions towards adaptation and reflect on simple and practical
ways of moving towards a low carbon economy within the immediate community,
workplaces and households;
• Reflect on existing national policies on climate change within SADC countries; and
• Develop an advocacy plan of policy engagement of trade unions at National level

• 15 Members drawn from SATUCC affiliates
• 3 ITUC-Africa/ ALREI Personnel
• 3 Researchers from the Africa Labor Research Network
• 3 Labour Friendly Environmental Organizations
• 3 Exhibitors from SADC region
